If you are in the market for a military spec padded case for your rifles you’ve come to the right place! When ordering a product online, it is important to know every detail before making a purchase. This is why we’ve created this buyers guide. If you have any questions not answered in this guide, please leave a comment, call us, or use our form.
If you own multiple weapons, but love taking only one the range a single rifle case might be better for you. Single rifle cases are designed to make your weapon more accessible. There are less compartment areas and storage, which makes it a little easier to access your favorite rifle. You can see all our Voodoo Tactical rifle cases here.
Double rifle cases are designed for multiple weapons and multiple magazines. With that comes a heavier load to carry. There is a tendency to overload double rifle cases because there is so much storage space. For example, the Voodoo Tactical 42” Deluxe has an official mag storage of 6, but you can stuff 12 in there. By the time you load in your two fully equipped rifles, two pistols, 18 magazines, eyewear and other gear, your bag (and your back) will be straining a little bit.
If you are trying to decide between a soft case vs a hard case, consider the following. With soft rifle cases you gain transportability but lose durability. A military spec Voodoo Tactical soft case should be able to withstand daily use. They are backed by a lifetime warranty. Still, there are some people that love hard cases. You can toss them around and stuff more gear in them as well. If you are still having a hard time deciding check out this review from USA Carry’s Luke McCoy, who recently switched his everyday case from a hard to a soft padded.
Another great benefit of padded soft cases vs hard cases is the ability to wear them like a backpack. Many customers like the standard version of the 42” because of that feature. This frees up both hands so you carry an additional gear bag, or hold your girl’s hand.
When it comes to rifles, there is no normal. The ability to customize a weapon means that it may or may not fit into a case that it was designed for. Consider the measurements of your weapon before purchasing a case. Are you going to keep a scope attached while stored? Does your weapon have an extended barrel or short stock? If so, those customizations will affect the dimensions of your weapon, and you’ll want to check to make sure it will fit well into a case.
Your new gun case should accommodate the longest weapon you have (or planning to buy). If you have a long rifle like a Barrett Model 98B .50 cal, you might need the 51” sniper drag bag. This way you can store both your AK-47 and sniper rifle in the same bag.
Maintaining a locked weapons case is a smart move, especially if you share living space with children. A locked case means the weapon is only being handled when it’s supposed to, by the person who is supposed to handle it. Some states require that a weapons case be locked when being transported in public spaces. If you’re spending time at the range, it’s a good idea to use a lockable case, and may even be required. Many unnecessary firearms accidents can be prevented simply by keeping the weapon locked. Lockable Voodoo Tactical rifle cases are available in both the 36” and 42” Deluxe. If you have a high construction safe to store your weapons, you probably don’t need a lockable rifle case.
The deluxe versions are only available in the 36” and 42″. As noted above, the deluxe version comes with locks. The deluxe version also has extra padding and fitted magazine storage. One feature found on the regular and not on the deluxe is the backpack straps. The video below provides a review of the deluxe version.
Just because your are a proud gun owner, does not necessarily mean that you always want the world to know. Voodoo Tactical is synonymous with military spec and style. The cases they produce are designed to have a definite tactical look. However, they do produce cases that won’t raise eyebrows from bystanders in an urban environment. Voodoo Tactical has an entire product line devoted to weapons cases with a very discreet look. The lack of features like MOLLE and external magazine storage give these cases a very clean and stylish appearance.

Depending on the rifle case, there are many colors to choose from. Every case is available in black. Additional colors include: bronze, coyote brown, olive drab, army digital, pink, purple, and multicam. Check the table to see the colors available for each model.
At the end of the day you have many options for protecting, storing and transporting your rifles. You can choose a hard case or a soft case, single or multiple weapons, discreet or tactical look. It really depends on what weapon you carry and your preference. Whatever you chose, remember that we offer fast, free shipping within the continental US and Voodoo Tactical has a lifetime warranty against manufacturer’s defects. If you have any problems after you purchase, we will make it right.
